Econazole is an antifungal medicine that fights infections caused by fungus. Econazole topical (for the skin) is used to treat athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworm (tinea corporis). Econazole topical is also used to treat tinea versicolor (a fungus that discolors the skin), and yeast infections of the skin. Econazole topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
